¡Hola de Buenos Aires!
el martes, 19 de junio
We are having a blast in Buenos Aires! Yesterday we visited the picturesque neighborhood of La Boca, known for its colorful buildings, street artists, artesan shops, and the stadium of one of Buenos Aires´s most beloved and renowned fútbol teams, Club Atlético Boca Juniors. There we visited the stadium and learned about the history and passion of fútbol at the attached museum. After that we explored the retired naval ship, La Sarmiento, as well as the Plaza de Mayo and la Casa Rosada, Argentina´s White House. Lunch consisted of smokey Argentine asado at the Carritos de la Costanera. ¡Qué rico!
Today Payton students will shadow their Belgrano peers at school, take a Tango workshop and enjoy an afternoon at El Talar, Belgrano´s sports field.
Tomorrow we venture to the quaint pueblo of Areco where we will visit the Museo de los Gauchos, local markets and partake in a traditional Argentine asado.

Today marks day 7 of our Argentina exchange and it promises to be a great one! Payton students are in class this morning with their BDS peers and in the afternoon will be traveling to the Estancia La Catita, where the group will have a bonfire and learn about traditional farm work and life in the pampas, or countryside.
Yesterday we visited the famous cemetery in La Recoleta with its impressive above ground mausoleums and monuments. After that we took a scenic ride in a catamaran down the rivers of the Tigre delta. We have really lucked out with the weather so far. It´s been brisk but sunny, much like a Chicago fall.
More photos and news to come!

Hola familias y amigos!
Today marks our last full day of this memorable cultural exchange. This evening BDS and WPCP students will be enjoying a goodbye dinner and in the afternoon will be shopping in downtown Buenos Aires and visiting San Isidro and Puerto de Olivos.
Friday and Saturday we visited the Estancia La Catita, an educational farm-based program that gives students a
taste of rural Argentine life - horse riding, examining the southern hemisphere night sky through telescopes with an astronomer (imagine the Milky Way, Saturn, Mars, and more!), and guided visits to a nearby lagoon and farms.

Belgrano Visits Payton-February, 2012
From Feb. 12 - 24th the Payton Spanish program hosted their first ever exchange with sister school Belgrano Day School in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Belgrano students stayed with Payton families for 12 days, getting to know Payton and the great city of Chicago. Belgrano students participated in such school-wide events as "Take an argentino to Lunch," a well-attended after school meet-and-greet fiesta, shadowing their Payton peers in classes, and "intercambios" in Spanish classes in which Payton and Belgrano students played games, danced, interacted and shared their views on culture with one another. 15 eager Payton students and their Spanish teachers will travel to Buenos Aires come mid-June for 10 days of fun, learning and exploration. We are very excited to be connecting our global communities. Learn more about Belgrano by visiting http://www.bds.edu.ar
